The Internets is Serious

So haven’t blogged in a bit been busy with school/drinking (mostly drinking as poor students do) but none the less here’s some news I came across.

Well this one is about bloggers some poor blogger is being unmasked by the law due to calling a former model a skank on his or hers blog. This former model named Liskula Cohen (cant say I’ve heard of her) won the right to have the anonymous blogger revealed so she can sue him or her for calling her a skank and saying “I would have to say the first-place award for ‘Skankiest in NYC’ would have to go to Liskula Gentile Cohen,” on their blog. Now I’d have to argue that something said on a blog is ones personal opinions. Is that not the whole point of blogging? To Get your opinions out there? It’s certainly the case on my blog. So lets quit pretending that poor Liskula is hurt by this statement but instead my opinion is that she’s just trying to earn a little cash and get some attention back in the spot light also shes an Aussie and as all us kiwis know Aussies are lying cheats right?

Disaster a Foot?

Seems good old Asia is taking a beating lately first with the typhoon Morakot hitting China/Taiwan and the surrounding areas which has been wreaking havoc on the population but now with Japan suffering 2 major Earthquakes a 7.1 and a 7.6 which has left one person dead and triggered tsunami warnings.

I don’t know if its just me or maybe its just the fact that the internet and other forms of media make it easier to hear about disasters or if its just the fact that I’m paying more attention to the media than I used to but it seems to me as if things are getting worse in our far from perfect world. Every other day theres a reports of some sort of disaster or something just as tragic. Could it be that this global warming thing isn’t just the a wild conspiracy formed by tree hugging hippies ( I actually believe that global warming is contributing to climate change unlike a few friends of mine nor am I a tree hugging hippie but it sounded good ) or could it be something more sinister like I dunno Mother Earth slowly seeking revenge or just apart of a slow culling of the human race to keep numbers down I mean we are sort of reaping our resources and all pretty soon the Earth could really be nothing but a husk of its former self, Or is this just all apart of the Earths cycle we haven’t been here long enough to have documented what happens to the Earth every 500,000 years or so and there is evidence of the Antarctic once being full of plant life.

Just a quick jump back to the Japan Earthquake normally NZ gets one after Japan wonder how big this one will be kinda hope its small or a big one but rolling so instead of shaking up a storm it feels like your at sea like our last one of course it helps when your house is on piles.

What the hell?

Ok so normally I’m not into this whole join a group thing on facebook, I’m not really even into facebook for that matter but my sister sent me one of those cause invites so I checked it out. I gotta say that after a quick google search to see if the story was true which it is, I was a little shocked at how people can do this sort of thing and then act as if it’s no big deal. The story is about a 17 year old girl named Cheyenne  Cherry who decided as a “joke” to go and trash her ex-flatemates flat with a 14 year old friend but to top the “joke” off upon entering the flat found a little kitten and shoved it in the oven and cranked up the heat! effectivley cooking the kitten to death. Yeap awesome joke! I’m not much of a cat person but thats just wrong but what really ticks me off is the fact she thinks it was a joke it’s not like you can go down to the pub afterwards have a drink and go “oh hey remember that time I cooked your kitten was a fuckin right laugh aye” …. get fucked. Anyway she got sentenced to some jail time and afterwards walked out of court and grinned at the animal rights group that had gathered outside what a lovely girl.

I could probably keep going and eventually rant on about the justice system as well but due to being out of class for 2 weeks recovering from swine flu I have a crap load of work to catch up on which I’m going to attempt to do now seeing as I’m in class.

First!

So its currently 9 in the morning I’m at a mates flat for some odd reason and I havent slept at all. Why? I guess its due to the fact that he has nothing in his flat but his bed a desk and a chair and one hell of a cold floor and I didn’t want to spoon him the entire night, so I stayed up and trauled the internet mostly stuff.co.nz great news website for anyone whos into that kind of thing. Anyway something that has been in the media a fair bit lateley is the Tongan Ferry disaster the thing about this though is the survivors. At current every survivor has either been a man or a crew member no women or children. It strikes me as very, very odd that it was only men that survived I cant help but think was there foul play involved? I know its a horrible thought and all but you cant say that no women or children made an attempt to get off to put it bluntly did the men push or keep the women and children from getting on the lifeboats and just saved themselves? I dont know of course but its just something that I’ve been thinking about.
